JD's Watersports in Costa Rica


Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast has long been known for its world-class Sailfish, Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) Sportfishing. We catch and release hundreds of billfish each year!!

Our prime fishing season is December- May. But we catch fish year-round because the Gulf of Nicoya is a magnet for many different species of baitfish. December – May is also dry season, so the seas are generally calm when the fishing is best. Our waters abound with whales, dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and many other species of marine life throughout the year.

Our 44-ft Striker yacht is one of the most comfortable fishing yachts in Costa Rica. The “Resourceful” is professionally equipped with a full complement of electronics, Penn International reels, the finest rods & tackle, and a dedicated, experienced crew.

With a spacious salon, sitting areas, bathroom, galley and flying bridge, this is truly fishing in style! Within a few minutes, you’ll be fishing some of the World’s most productive waters for Pacific Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo.

We release all billfish (sailfish and marlin). Keep your Dorado, Tuna and Wahoo, and have the chefs at your hotel cook them to your liking, or we will prepare your fish for freezing to take home.

Our 44-ft yacht is located at the Los Sueños Marina in the Los Sueños Resort. This outstanding facility allows us to provide you the best service and experience possible.

This includes round trip transfers from San Jose, light breakfast, lunch, all equipment, bait, tackle, gear & refreshments. This is NOT a charter rate! (In other words, you may be placed on board with other people.) Does not include fishing licenses.


Because we are only 2 hours from San Jose, we are one of the few companies offering a 1-day Sportfishing trip from San Jose. We'll pick you up at any San Jose Hotel, transfer you to the Los Sueños Marina, go fishing, and then take you back to San Jose the same day!!!

All prices are in U.S. Dollars, and are subject to availability and change. All Sportfishing trips include light breakfast, lunch, refreshments, bait, tackle, gear, and all equipment. Tips for the crew and fishing licenses are not included. Transfers from Jaco, Puntarenas and San Jose are available, but are not included in the above prices.
